Elmo Lincoln, who had played Tarzan in two movies, was no longer interested, so the Weiss Brothers hired fireman Gene Pollar to play the part. Because of the change, the movie which was based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' book The Return of Tarzan, was renamed to The Revenge of Tarzan. This was Pollar's only movie. He went back to being a fireman.
