The Lubin Manufacturing Company was a pioneering film production company founded in 1902 in Philadelphia by Siegmund Lubin. Lubin later produced movies in Jacksonville, Florida and Los Angeles, California. I did not know that they also built and sold projectors like Lubin's Marvel the Cineograph.

The Oberammergau Passion Play is performed in the Bavarian village every ten years. The Passion Play became a hot topic and several producers made adaptions. Lubin's was made in 1900.

In 1899, Jim Jeffries defeated Bob Fitzsimmons to take his heavyweight title. On 25-July-1902, they fought a rematch in San Francisco. Fitzsimmons broke Jeffries' nose, but Jeffries knocked him cold in the 8th.

San Francisco Examiner, 09-September-1905

Battling Nelson and Jimmy Britt fought for the second time on 09-September-1905 in Colma, near San Francisco. Nelson, winning by a KO in the 20th round, took away Britt's so-called White Lightweight championship. Joe Gans, who was African-American held the world lightweight championship.

Corbett-McGovern Fight -- December 13, 2017

New York Clipper, 18-April-1903

On 31-March-1903, Young Corbett II defended his world featherweight championship against Terrible Terry McGovern at the Mechanic's Pavilion in San Francisco.  Corbett won by a knockout in the eleventh.  This was their second fight of three.  Corbett won the first two and the third was a draw.  I don't know why the ad calls it a lightweight fight.

McGovern had lost the title to Corbett in 1900.  

The next month, the Lubin company released a film of the bout.  I don't know how they could fit eleven rounds on one reel unless it was highly condensed.

"When the Earth Trembled" was a 1913 Lubin three-reeler which included the 1906 Earthquake and Fire in San Francisco among its events.  Reviewers remarked on how long it was and how effective were the "mechanical effects."

One of the Most Desperate Ring Fights Ever Known -- January 20, 2016

New York Clipper, 13-January-1906

On 20-December-1905, Light Heavyweight champ Bob Fitzsimmons fought Philadelphia Jack O'Brien at the Mechanics Pavilion in San Francisco.  This was their second fight.  O'Brien won when Fitzsimmons retired after the 13th round.  Fitzsimmons had won a 24-July-1904 fight against O'Brien in Philadelphia.  Fitzsimmons was a former heavyweight champ.

The Lubin Manufacturing Company offered the complete 13 rounds or the "six best rounds."
