Cameo Draws Crowds With Harold Lloyd -- October 8, 2023

Why Worry?, despite some racist elements, is one of Harold Lloyd's funniest films. I love this scene with giant John Aasen serving as a gun carriage. Note Harold's boots. 


San Francisco's Cameo Theater at Fifth and Market, was showing Why Worry? along with newsreels about the Great Kantō Earthquake in Japan.

First Motion Pictures of the Japanese Earthquake -- September 28, 2023

On 01-September-1923, the Great Kantō Earthquake devasted a large part of Japan. Fires spread through cities and at least 140,000 people were killed. 

Newsreel footage had reached the US by the end of the month.
