I was sad to learn that Diahann Carroll has died. Her television show
Julia exists just on the verge of my memory. It was the first show that starred a black woman who was not playing a servant. It was also the only show I remember that referred to the War in Vietnam. She sang, danced and acted in many movies and television shows.
