After a long career in vaudeville, WC Fields made his film debut in 1915, but then returned to the vaudeville stage and the Ziegfeld Follies. He did not appear in another movie until 1924. He developed and performed "The Flivvertons and Their Family Ford" as a sketch in the Ziegfeld Follies. Jim Harkins took the role of the father, which Fields had played in the Follies.
