 Happy Flag Day, everyone. Beautiful and funny actress Thelma Todd posed as Betsy Ross. She was a wonderful comedienne in two Marx Brothers movies, many Laurel and Hardy movies, and a starring series of short subjects with Zasu Pitts and later Patsy Kelly.

ZaSu Pitts began her movie career playing roles in short silent comedies.  Director Erich von Stroheim surprised her and many other people by casting her as Trina, the female lead in Greed, his adaption of Frank Norris' novel McTeague. I thought she was wonderful in the part.

When talkies arrived in Hollywood, ZaSu Pitts mostly played comedy character parts.  She starred in a series of two-reelers with Thelma Todd for Hal Roach.

Warriors Win the NBA Championship -- June 17, 2014

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-2 in the NBA championship series.  I don't usually mention basketball here, but I watched each game of the championship.  I remember the last time they won in 1975-1975.  I remember when Nate Thurmond got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.  I had never heard of them before.
