I remember people making jokes about Georgie Jessel and I think I once saw him on television. I didn't understand why he was wearing a uniform. I had no idea what he had done or why he was famous. He was born 125 years ago today. Later I learned about his career in vaudeville, on Broadway, touring for the USO and producing and directing movies.
