Bebe Daniels und Ben Lyon -- June 3, 2014

Bebe Daniels had an unusually long career.  In 1910 when she was nine, she played Dorothy in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."  This was not her first movie.  In 1915, when she was 14, she became Harold Lloyd's leading lady in a long series of short comedies.  In 1919 when she was 18, she moved into dramas, playing roles for Cecil B DeMille.  During the 1920s, she was a huge star.  In 1930 she married actor Ben Lyon.  He had starred in Hell's Angels and did a lot of flying in his private life.  The airplane appears to be painted for a flying school.  She was successful in sound films, but retired in 1935.  They moved to London and she played on the stage.  They both appeared on radio.  They stayed in Britain during the war.  After the war, they starred with their children in Life With the Lyons, first on radio and then on television.
