Philip Seymour Hoffman, RIP -- February 3, 2014

Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment, apparently with a needle in his arm.  He was 46 years old.  This is terrible news.  He could be hard to watch, but that was because he show his characters' feelings so vividly.  He had good taste in roles, too.

I think I first recognized him in The Talented Mister Ripley.  Even in a light movie like The Boat That Rocked (Pirate Radio), I remembered him more than most of the other actors.

Damn heroin.  Charley Parker, Janis Joplin, Dee Dee Ramone, Chet Baker, John Belushi, the kid from Glee, and now Philip Seymour Hoffman.  Waste.  Waste.  Waste.
