Battling Nelson defended his lightweight title against Ad Wolgast, the Michigan Wildcat at Point Richmond, California on 22-February-1910. Wolgast took the title from Nelson with a TKO in round 40. It was said the be a very fierce fight.

This was the second of three fights between the two men. Wolgast won all three, in 1909, 1910 and 1913.
